Few weeks back, this article (below) was floating around the websphere and it quickly got a lot of people’s attention.
I am not oblivious to the lack in awareness that is desperately needed for Sickle Cell Disease, but I was faced with another realization from the conversation this article started, and that was the lack of understanding of the severity the disease has. When people think sickle cell disease, they automatically attach some range of severity to people living with the disease, but none to people with the sickle cell trait.
I am back. Back to winter, back to snowstorms, back to brisk cold (sigh).
I am not made for this lifestyle. No ma’am. I believe the time to start brainstorming, I need to move! (burr)
Actually, I’ve been back for some time now but just have not been up to writing, working, or stepping outside at all … as much as I want to blame the weather (as it surely plays a role in my antisocial/hibernating tendencies), this time it’s my body, it is fighting me y’all lol. (more…)
Last post I mentioned the SCD event by SAMI Nigeria, let’s see if I can sum up my experience :). As you may remember, the event time was 4PM but everybody had already told me it won’t start on time, which is fine only that it’s on the mainland and I’m coming from the island right? I worried about it starting late and ending late, only because I didn’t want to drive back so late. (more…)
